Indigo Sound Engine: Axel S. Releases Debut Single “White Lines”

With his solo project Indigo Sound Engine, Axel S. explores his musical creativity and versatility in a new light. The recently released debut single “White Lines” marks the first glimpse of his upcoming album “Plea for Redemption,” set to be released in early 2025.

Axel, who has spent recent years working as a keyboard player, synthesizer programmer, and sound designer for various projects in the genres of synth-pop, synthwave, gothic, and darkwave, has now channelled his accumulated experience and creative sound experiments into his own music. The result is melodic and melancholic synth-pop, which ranges from energetic and poppy to dark and brooding.

The debut single “White Lines” feels like a thrilling musical journey with no return: The song surprises with its unique structure, where there are no repetitions but instead a continuous progression from intro to outro. A driving, pulsating bass line and layered synthesizer textures carry the charismatic vocals that resonate deeply.

Lyrically, “White Lines” remains deliberately vague, leaving room for interpretation. Axel places great importance on the idea that music—like any art form—should allow space for individual interpretation: “No two listeners hear and experience a piece of music in the same way.” This openness is reflected in the song’s theme, which revolves somewhere between loss of control and disorientation. The “white lines” that “blur in the rearview” are ambiguous, leaving it up to the listener to decipher their meaning.

With “White Lines”, Indigo Sound Engine makes a powerful initial statement, sparking curiosity about what is yet to come. Axel is an artist who knows how to capture emotions in soundscapes, creating a distinctive style that blends familiar synth-pop with surprising elements.
