The DROC R.MXes

The DROC, aka Alexander Tscholakov, is a drummer and producer. He is known for electronic music combined with analog sounds on danceable grooves and sophisticated ambient textures. His music often includes elements of House, DnB, NuJazz, and RnB. In addition to his own songs, he has remixed artists such as Disillusion, Yo Majesty!, Loos093, Hiatus Kaiyote, eMTykeys, and many more.

With the EP R.MXes, he deliberately moves away from the original artists’ sounds and focuses entirely on fat beats and strong recognition value. R.MXes has been released on his own label, Mo Rhythm, which he reactivated specifically for this purpose.

Originally a smooth hip-hop beat by Loos093, now reimagined in a liquid drum and bass style.

Key features:

Powerful drums with plenty of often subtly distorted percussion overdubs and deep, driving basslines.

Complex harmonies and atmospheric sounds.

Hypnotically alienated vocal samples that run like a red thread through the track, adding a mystical depth.

One is not quite sure whether to enjoy the track best in a dark, loud club or while speeding a bit too fast through the night in a car. But probably both — one after the other.
