“Drift & Sway” creates images like a modern Polaroid camera: the warm colours and nostalgic feel of past decades meet a contemporary production. A rhythmic passage that clearly recalls the famous drum break from Phil Collins’ 1981 classic “In the Air Tonight” provides a moment of playful recognition – a musical nod to one of the defining artists of that era.

The saxophone also adds a touch of 1980s flair. Rather than taking centre stage with an extended solo, it provides brief, carefully placed accents. These interjections break through the song’s steady flow and add another layer of instrumental emotion to its laid-back atmosphere.

Behind MP Grey is German songwriter and producer Martin Polle, whose music deliberately sits just left of the mainstream: melodic, thoughtful and quietly powerful. His musical story began in the shadow of a divided Berlin. Classically trained on the piano as a child, he later played in rock bands and began writing songs of his own. In his studio, Polle blends Indie Pop, Alternative Rock and AC Pop with synth-driven textures and occasional Folk influences.

With his 2020 debut album “Merged Time,” he brought together compositions written across three decades. Since then, he has released numerous singles, gained coverage from international music blogs, received airplay on independent radio stations and built a growing audience around the world. “Drift & Sway” continues this journey while bringing a breath of fresh air to the sound of MP Grey.
